When do events run?
There will be 11 events running from September – May, ending with the Finale run the weekend after Victoria Day every year. Each event will have registration open at 10:00am, practice beginning at 11:00am, scoring on at 11:15am. The Player's Tour reserves the right to change the start time when necessary and will announce it accordingly.
What is the tournament format?
Each regular season singles event will consist of 5 games qualifying, followed by match play to determine the winner. The annual doubles event will follow the same qualifying format but will move to a baker style match play afterwards. The Finale event will be an 8 game qualifying round bowled on the Saturday, followed by a 6 game match play and top 5 step ladder final to be bowled on the following Sunday.
How many bowlers make match play?
The number of bowlers making match play will change depending on the number of entries but always based off a 1-in-5 ratio.
What are the entry fees?
Tournament Entry: $100.00 per tournament
• $90.00 for Lineage/Prize Fund/Tournament Staff Salary
• $10.00 for Sweeps
Pre-registrations will be taken; however walk-in entries are still fully allowed and welcomed when the tournament does not sell out.
What side action is available?
$5.00 brackets will be available at each event and is an optional event for the participants.
There will be 2 sets of brackets offered (Games 1-2-3 and Games 3-4-5). $2.50 from each completed bracket will be added to the event's prize fund, the other $2.50 is donated to the Year End Finale event.
Some events will have additional brackets such as Doubles Brackets, Super Bracket, and/or additional formats.
$10.00 Sweeps are included for every bowler at every event. Pots will be paid to the bowler(s) who have the highest game total in each game.
How does pre-registration work?
Every tournament pre-registration will open the Sunday before each event and close the Friday before at 8:00pm.
Registration Schedule:
• Past champions: 8am Sunday
• Current top 20 in Player of the Year points: 1pm Sunday
• Remaining spots: 5pm Sunday (all times are for the Sunday before each event)
Entries must be sent to playersbowlingtour@gmail.com with the full entry amount to be considered valid.
Any entry sent before the opening of their eligible time or after the closing time, will not be accepted and be considered void and invalid.
What should I wear?
All bowlers are asked to wear a collared or mock shirt, preferably with your name on the back, but a name on the back is not mandatory.
Jeans, leggings, casual pants, skirts/skorts, or dress/golf shorts are all acceptable.
Not allowed: Non-bowling t-shirts, track pants, cargo pants, ripped jeans/shorts.
Who can bowl in The Players Tour?
Bowlers that hold PBA, PBA50, or PWBA cards are allowed to bowl. However, bowlers that have won a PBA or PWBA regular season or major event within the last 3 years are not allowed to bowl in any Player's Tour events. Regional event winners from the PBA, PBA50, PWBA are allowed to bowl in The Player's Tour events.
National team members from any country are allowed to bowl in The Player's Tour events and have no restrictions placed on them unless they meet any of the criteria listed above.
What if I've been banned from the tour?
Any bowler deemed to have broken the Code of Conduct and have been given a ban from Player's Tour events are not allowed to bowl. However, after 1 year they are allowed to re-apply and will be subject to a review done by the Tournament Directors.
What happens if I damage equipment?
Any bowler that is caught breaking, damaging, or destroying any equipment or property on the grounds of a bowling alley that holds a Player's Tour event will be given a warning or in extreme cases will be fined $20.00 immediately. That fine must be paid before you're able to bowl for score in the current or following tournaments. They will also be subject to an immediate review of their eligibility by the Tournament Director and Staff. In some cases, a fine and a ban will be placed on that bowler for a minimum of 1 year.
What about language and behavior?
Cursing and/or foul language is highly frowned upon. Although we do understand the competition can be fierce, we ask that bowlers respect the fact youth bowlers, the general public and/or children may be present and watching. Passion/Emotion can be entertaining and bring a positive experience to the spectators; we just ask each bowler to be thoughtful to who is in attendance. When in doubt always try to promote the sport of bowling in a positive manner.
What about abuse or harassment?
There will be a zero tolerance for any verbal or physical abuse of a fellow bowler, tournament or bowling alley staff member, Tournament Director, spectator, or tournament sponsor. First offenses will result in a $20.00 fine being imposed, that must be paid before the bowler will be eligible to sign up for future events, or in extreme cases an immediate ban for life from any future Player's Tour events.
How are disputes handled?
All disputes will be brought to the attention of a Tournament Director, at the time of the occurrence. After the dispute has been reviewed a resolution will be proposed unless the dispute needs to be escalated. In extreme cases, all C.T.F. rules and regulations will be applied accordingly.
